IMAGE AND THOUGHT

This course was my first ever introduction to Art History. We chronologically went through Art movements and discussed everything. From colonisation and orientalism to appropriation and politics within the art world.
Apart from a presentation that I  gave on Mannerism, Baroque and Rococo; there was a research paper. Needless to say, I couldn't even really find a research question because I didn't know how to narrow the unnecessarily big ideas in my head down to one question and one artist.

What I initially wanted to question was whether creative people are more likely to be mentally ill or if mentally ill people are more prone to creativity. By completely misting my abilities with my ambitious I started my research but it didn't take long for me to realize that this is not a question which can be answered in a few thousand words.

Regardless my research introduced me to a lot of new subjects and artists, two of them being Leonorra Carrington and Francisco Goya. Its almost magic, ive been in awe ever since and I hate that I will never see 'Saturn devouring his son' or 'Down Below' for the first time every again.
